That Says a Lot About Who You Are

Your habits say a lot about who you are. Confucius said, “Men’s natures are alike; it is their habits that separate them.” John Dryden added, “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” And Aristotle noticed that, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” It’s pretty clear that the habits you adopt will shape who you are. What are your habits? Do you eat the same thing for lunch, go through the same exercise routine, and fall into bed at the same time each night? Or maybe you’ve made a habit out of eating something sweet before bed, avoiding the gym, and staying up as late as possible. When it comes to your fitness, the two habits that define you are your eating and exercise habits. In fact, everyone that you know who is in great shape has dialed in these two important habits. Have you ever heard that saying, “It’s not just the years in your life, but the life in your years”? I have an eye-opening and fun “what if” exercise for you today to bring that saying to life – YOUR life! It harnesses the power of visualization to help MOTIVATE and INSPIRE you! Start here : Imagine you can fast-forward to the age of 75, when you’re spending a day at the beach (yay, you!). What are you doing while you’re at the beach? Or are you sitting under an umbrella in a tall lawn chair (because getting in and out of the short ones is almost impossible!), watching your family or friends enjoy the fun? Next: Let’s pop over to your home, where you are unloading the car from your weekly grocery trip. Can you carry it all in 1-2 trips? Or do you have to make several trips, and use a railing to help you up and down the stairs? Right now, are you able to easily do all the things you want to be able to at 75? If you c...

“Inflammaging” is a real thing...

I have a little assignment for you today that might lead you to a delicious weekend project! Go into your kitchen and look inside your pantry ... and then open up your fridge and take a look in there, too. What’s inside can make a BIG difference in how you age. A lot of times people talk about what you SHOULDN’T eat – like sugar, processed foods, etc. – because they are linked with a higher risk of disease. BUT there are actually foods that help FIGHT a major factor in aging. Plus, they can reduce aches and pains. There’s a process in your body that plays such a huge role in aging that it’s actually been called “inflammaging” – inflammation + aging. Research shows a key sign of aging is having more inflammatory markers in your bloodstream. Inflammation is your body’s immune response to toxins as it tries to remove them from your system. It can cause aches and pains – and over the long term it can actually trigger chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease & strokes, mood disturb...
